Apply to speak at the
2026 Animal Law & Advocacy Conference
Hosted by Animal Justice at Toronto Metropolitan University, Toronto, Canada
October 2-4, 2026
Send us your proposals!
Deadline: March 15, 2026, midnight ET
Topics: Topics should relate to animal law or advocacy. While the conference has a legal focus, non-legal approaches to advocacy are welcome and encouraged. This may include ideas for legislative reform, litigation, law enforcement, public policy, corporate campaigns, grassroots organizing, local advocacy, education, media, new books, and historical or philosophical studies. Our primary focus is on Canada, but international topics are welcome.
Who we’re looking for: Advocates, lawyers, scholars, organizers, and students with a passion for animal law and advocacy.

Format: Most presentations will be grouped in panels of two to four speakers, with each speaker allocated 15-20 minutes. We love getting proposals for fully-formed panels with a common theme, although you’re also welcome to submit an individual proposal. We welcome proposals for traditional academic paper presentations, debates, workshops, training, and other non-traditional formats. The event is fully in-person, so remote presentations aren’t possible.
How to apply: Send your materials to conference@animaljustice.ca:
-
Abstract & presentation title, maximum 150 words. Panel proposals should include a panel description, plus abstracts of up to 150 words per panelist. (Word file only.)
-
Biography, maximum 150 words. (Word file only.)
-
CV, maximum two pages. (Word or PDF file.)
-
Headshot. Photos will be posted on the conference website if a proposal is accepted. They will not be used to evaluate submissions. (JPEG file only.)
Registration: Presenters must still register for the conference, but will be offered a reduced rate. Limited need-based funding may be available.
