Alex Mooney

Alex Mooney is a whistleblower who worked with Animal Justice to expose invasive cardiovascular experiments on dogs at St. Joseph’s Hospital in London, Ontario. After witnessing the experiments firsthand and enduring the trauma of the facility alongside the dogs, Alex came forward because they could not accept that animal suffering remained hidden from the public. The exposé helped bring decades of dog research at the hospital to an end. The surviving dogs were rehomed, and Ontario later banned invasive research on dogs and cats.

Alex continues to advocate anonymously for animals used in research and hopes that sharing their story will inspire others to speak up when something feels wrong. Through their experience working within both human and animal research environments, Alex has come to believe strongly in advancing non-animal research methods and in building a future where scientific progress does not have to come at the expense of animals.
