Dr. Hillary Dalton is the Senior Research Manager at Compassion in World Farming, where she oversees applied research that supports policy reform, corporate accountability, and the advancement of improved farm animal welfare standards in the United States. Her expertise guides companies, producers, and food industry stakeholders in adopting science-based practices that reduce animal suffering and promote regenerative farming systems. She also chairs the animal welfare standards committee for the Regenerative Organic Certification. Her academic background includes a PhD in Poultry Behaviour and Welfare (University of Guelph), an MSc in Applied Animal Behaviour and Welfare (University of Edinburgh), and a BSc in Animal Biology (University of Alberta). She previously conducted post‑doctoral research at Newcastle University, leading innovations in precision agriculture technologies designed to identify welfare risks in commercial livestock operations.
