Dr. John Lieberman

John Lieberman is a retired MD, studying animal law at Lewis & Clark Law

School. Dr. Lieberman will graduate in May 2026 with an MSL in Animal Law.

Originally from New York, he practiced medicine in Colorado for over twenty

years before making a career pivot from helping humans one-by-one, to working to

help animals on a more systemic level. Dr. Lieberman currently resides in Portland,

OR with his collie mix Siena, whom he rescued from a local shelter while living in

southern Colorado. Within animal law, John’s specific areas of interest include

animals in research, food law, and puppy mills.
