Richard Giles holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Social and Ecological Sustainability from the University of Waterloo; he currently is working as an independent researcher and occasional sessional professor. His postdoctoral work concerns itself with cultured meat in the context of critical animal theory, as well as other biotechnological “miracle solutions” like de-extinction. He is currently working on the edited collection, Critical Perspectives on Cultured Meat, to be published by Routledge, and he is also pursuing publication of his solo work on the topic.
