Kaitlyn Mitchell

Kaitlyn Mitchell is Animal Justice’s Director of Legal Advocacy and has over 15 years of experience using the law to protect animals and the environment. Since joining Animal Justice in 2019, her work to strengthen legal protections for animals has included successfully advocating for the passage of Bill S-5—a groundbreaking 2023 law to phase out toxicity testing on animals in Canada—as well as Ontario's recent ban on most invasive experiments on dogs and cats. She has appeared before numerous courts across the country, including the Supreme Court of Canada. Kaitlyn graduated from Dalhousie Law School in 2007 after receiving her undergraduate degree from the University of Winnipeg.
